The fence that timber fencing contractors highly recommend

Sheridan fencing - Dave Relf

Introducing one of my all-time favourite timber fencing styles: the timeless and elegant panel fence, elevated by the inclusion of sturdy 4x4 wooden posts and durable 6-inch gravel boards. Hey there, I'm Dave Relf, the face behind Sheridan Fencing Contractors, and I can't wait to dive into why this particular fencing combination resonates with me on a personal level.

What makes this fencing style so special, you might ask? Well, let's break it down:

In the photo accompanying this post, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about a beautifully crafted panel fence standing tall and proud, supported by robust 4x4 wooden posts and accented by sleek 6-inch gravelboards. It's a sight that never fails to capture my attention and ignite my passion for quality craftsmanship and timeless design.

Just a little heads up, are Waney lap panels are now brown.

My Preferred Fencing Setup
4x4 Wooden Posts: Reliable and Classic
I prefer using 4x4 wooden posts for their reliability and timeless appeal. They provide solid support for the fence and have a traditional look that I appreciate.

Waney or Closeboard Panels
When it comes to panels, I usually choose between waney or close board options. Both offer privacy and security, and they pair well with wooden posts for a cohesive look.

Wooden Gravel Boards:
For the base of the fence, I typically use wooden gravel boards. Wooden gravel boards have a natural look that blends with the garden.

Personal Preference: Wooden Gravelboards
I lean towards wooden gravel boards for their aesthetic appeal. They add warmth to the garden and complement the overall look of the fence.

Another Option is Concrete Gravel BoardsIn the photo accompanying this post, you'll notice an alternative option for the base of the fence: 6-inch concrete gravel boards. These sturdy boards provide a durable foundation for the fence panels, offering protection against ground-level moisture and debris. While they may lack the natural warmth of wooden gravel boards, concrete gravel boards boast exceptional longevity and low maintenance requirements, making them a practical choice for homeowners seeking a hassle-free fencing solution. Whether you opt for wooden or concrete gravel boards, both options complement the panel fence design beautifully, adding a polished finishing touch to your outdoor space.

The top pick of timber fencing contractors for fencing

Adding a gravel board to a standard post and panel fence significantly enhances its appearance. Not only does it provide a finished look to the bottom of the fence, but it also adds a touch of sophistication and completeness to the overall design.
